You know what the best way to test your new memory foam mattress is? The best test is to sleep on it for at least 180 days in your own home. Testing a new mattress at home is the absolute only way to know if it will will work for you.
In How to Test a Memory Foam Mattress, the author offers three steps to test your new memory foam mattress. Here goes – 1. He says to place a glass of water on one side of the bed and jump on the opposite side to see if the water spills (testing motion transfer). 2. He recommends making your room cold to see if the memory foam mattress gets firmer then warm the room up again to see if it gets softer (testing temperature sensitivity). 3. He says to drop a basketball on the bed and see if it bounces (supposedly testing density). According to the article, if your memory foam mattress passes all the tests “you can assure that it is 100% of good quality.”
I hate to squash somebody’s attempt at adult science fair, but how on Earth are those three things going to tell you if you are going to sleep comfortably on your memory foam mattress?
The best way to know if your memory foam mattress is good quality is to do your homework on the retailer, try your memory foam mattress in your own home for at least 180 days, and make sure you have a true money-back guarantee (not a store credit or “comfort” guarantee, which is the same thing as a store credit) if the mattress does not work for you.
