Memory Foam Home > Traveling > Coolfont Coolfont Resort - a funky getaway in the West Virginia Hills We keep going back to Coolfont - we recently drove up for our third visit in two years. It is a really unique place - a couple of hours from Washington, D.C. in the West Virginia foothills. The resort is very woodsy and unpretentious - with the option of staying at a main inn or in your own private chalets. We love the little chalets with their wood stoves and double sized bathtub jacuzzis - they are pretty small but we enjoy their intimacy. The resort has lots of places to walk in the woods and a lake and has added a spa and wellness programs in the last few years. They have lots of interesting classes like yoga and t'ai chi, as well as the standard exercise equipment and pool. They offer the usual assortment of spa services and massage also - we got our faces masked and cleaned and our bodies massaged. Some of the therapist were better than others - ask around to see who the other guests have enjoyed. Coolfont also offers dining in its restaurant, and the latest chef was very nice about cooking vegetarian fare. We find Coolfont a great place to get away from it all, and a special treat is the hot springs located in Berkeley Springs, WV, just a few minutes away. The springs have 6 - 8 private bathing areas where they refill the hot springs water just for you. It's about 10 a person for a half hour (2 people) and it is just heavenly. For more info click over to Coolfont or call them at 800-888-8768. Be forwarned, while it is rustic it isn't cheap - weekend are around $129 a person for the chalet which includes breakfast and dinner. They also have spa packages available. And don't miss out on the springs - you can make reservations by calling 800-call wva and asking for the Berkely springs state park. They offer massage as well - for the springs reservations ask for the Roman Baths. |
