Do You Really Need to Buy the Topper With a Cover? We are often asked if we carry a cover for our pads - and we don't because for the most part we think a standard terry or cotton cover is an expensive add on that most people simply don't need. We've found that most people who would like to protect their memory foam mattress topper pad can put the topper pad under their existing quilted mattress pad (there just needs to be enough stretch in the quilted mattress pad to allow it to fit over the topper pad). So you don't really need to spend extra to get a cover for the pad - your existing quilted cover works just as well (and some covers you buy with memory topper pads are just this - quilted mattress pads, same as you already have!). We do get asked from time to time whether putting the topper under a quilted mattress pad will reduce the feel or performance of the pad. I just haven't found this to be a problem, and I've never had a complaint about this from a customer. In my experience, putting the topper under a quilted mattress pad doesn't change the essential conforming feel of the pad or inhibit its pressure relief properties. I think that for some other memory foams that are very temperature sensitive, putting the topper under a quilted mattress pad might cause these other toppers to feel stiffer and less comfortable (because the quilted pad would inhibit your body's heat from getting to the foam which causes the foam to soften). But our memory foam mattress topper pad doesn't have this temperature problem - our formulation is already soft at room temperatures and so works just fine under a quilted mattress pad.
