What's The Best, Most Highly Rated Mattresses?

Forget All The Hype -- With The Advent Of Customer Reviews, The Veil Has Been Lifted: Based On Over 18,000 Mattress Customer Reviews,
Memory Foam Mattresses Are The Highest Rated
While Conventional Innerspring Are By Far The Lowest Rated Mattress.

Hi, I'm David Rosenberg, founder of Healthy Foundations, and few people I've talked with look forward to the process of buying a mattress.

While they often are highly motivated to find a new mattress because they have severe pain or sleep issues, disabling back pain in the morning, or just didn't find their mattress comfortable, they were finding it very difficult to sort through all the different choices in mattress these days -- innerspring, memory foam, air beds, latex, etc. -- along with all the hype that seems to go along with each.

I've always hated this as well.

And so when I, started out in the mattress business 20 years ago as a complete outsider -- just a guy who had suffered a severe back injury and found that memory foam both helped me sleep and not wake with severe, debilitating pain -- I decided that I wanted to try to demystify the whole process.

A Different Approach. Not Hype -- Instead Gauging Comfort Based On Real Customer Reviews.

Where the mattress industry so often sells on hype, and the latest greatest technology, I wanted to concentrate on actual, verifiable information.

Actual reviews by real folks trying out the mattresses in their own homes.

And while it was hard to get this kind of objective information back in '94, in 2014 all this information is now at your fingertips, literally.

While comfort is subjective, what is no longer subjective is that certain types of mattress are just more comfortable than others.

And you don't have to take my word for it, or any other mattress retailer. The numbers don't lie.

And the Winners Are: In A Landslide, Memory Foam, Latex Mattresses and Air Beds.

Based on over 18,000 real people's reviews of their mattresses, the meta site Sleep Like the Dead found that in analyzing this information:

"Memory foam, air, and latex mattresses rate highest in owner satisfaction, while innerspring mattresses overall rate lowest." [1]

And it wasn't even close.

Memory Foam's rate of customer satisfaction was 81%, Latex was right behind at 80% and Air Beds came in at 78%.

Innersprings ... only 63% of their owners said they were satisfied.

The Good News Is You Now Know Which Mattresses Offer The Most Comfort Objectively. The Bad News Is, How Do You Sort Through The Options?

What does this mean for you?

The good news is that it is now clear, based not on hype but actual customer satisfaction ratings, that Memory Foam, Latex, and Air Beds offer a level of comfort far surpassing the ordinary innerspring (or even the dressed up, plush-top-that-you-have-to-get-into-with-a-small-step-stool, innerspring).

Where To Start, Though -- Memory Foam, Latex or Air?

But which one of these -- memory foam, latex or air beds -- might be the place to start for you?

I started with memory foam for a simple reason -- I loved the feel, and I was suffering with terrible back pain due to a skiing accident.

And I started selling them because memory foam helped me sleep so much better and wake with a lot less pain.

But since getting into the mattress industry, I've also looked closely at latex mattresses and air beds, and while I think they offer great options as well, there are some basic reasons why memory foam retains the lions share of the sales of these three options.

Of these three options, memory foam beds offer this higher level of comfort without the down sides of air beds (the mechanical issues involved (leaks, bad connectors, air pump issues, etc) and are much less costly than natural latex mattresses (and natural latex mattresses are the type that offer this higher level of comfort as noted by Sleep Like The Dead, synthetic latex gets much lower ratings).

And while the leading brand of memory foam is very expensive, small memory foam specialists like us are able to offer memory foam beds that get even higher ratings than the leading brand (96% of our reviewers say they would recommend our memory foam mattress to a friend) at about 1/2 the price since we sell direct to the consumers.

And the feel of memory foam -- the conforming yet supportive feel you don't get from any other type of material -- also makes it uniquely compelling.

For all these reasons, memory foam mattresses sales dwarf those of natural latex and air beds, and that along with my own experience of pain relief with memory foam, is why I've focused solely on memory foam for 20 years.

If you, on the other hand, like specific aspects of an air bed (the ability to inflate or deflate your bed) or natural latex (its eco-friendly aspect or the bouncy feel of latex), then perhaps these might be of more interest to you.

But in the broad marketplace, memory foam mattresses outsell the others for the basic reason they provide the most comfort for a broad range of people, with the fewest down sides, at a cost effective price.

But Not All Memory Foam Mattresses Are Created Equal -- While Memory Foam Mattresses Generally Rated The Highest at 81%, Our 10" Memory Foam Mattress Gets 96% Rating By Our Customers.

As I said above, memory foam mattresses in general get the highest overall rating for any mattress category -- 81% satisfaction rating vs 68% for traditional innerspring.

And while this is a big difference in comfort, this doesn't begin to reflect the difference in the comfort rating we've been able to get with our 10" Memory Foam Mattress.

How much higher are our customer satisfaction ratings?

While memory foam mattresses overall received an 81% satisfaction rating, and this was the highest of any type of mattress in the survey, 96% of the over 310+ customers that have reviewed our 10" Memory Foam Mattress say they would recommend it to a friend.

How Did We Achieve Such High Ratings For Our Memory Foam Mattress?

As I go into detail on our 10" Memory Foam Mattress page, I used the power of crowdsourcing to pick our Memory Foam Mattress -- I actually tested 6 different mattresses with over 300 people and had them rate the comfort and feel of their mattress.

Previously this type of unbiased rating was impossible. But with advent of transparent online ratings systems like the one we use, similar to Amazons, we were able to cut through the hype and confusion and let the true comfort of the mattress solely determine which Memory Foam Mattress really provided the most comfort and support.

By picking our mattress based on real people's comfort ratings and reviews, we were able to find the most comfortable

Could You Really Buy A Mattress Without Laying On It First -- Just Based On Exceptional Online Reviews?

And I'm not going to lie to you -- I do hope you if you are interested in a Memory Foam Mattress you will check out our 10" Memory Foam Mattress. Not only does it get 96% of our customers saying they would recommend it to a friend, in over 310+ reviews, but we also offer the longest money-back trial in the industry at 1 full year.

But I'm not naive, and I know that it is a stretch for many of you to think about buying a mattress without first laying on it and giving it a try.

I would like, though, to offer you a different take on mattress buying.

My goal on this site is to make buying a mattress transparent. Not only to give you the information on what goes into our mattress without all the hype, but also by using real customer reviews and ratings give you a look into how our mattress really works for real people over time in their homes.

Rather than just getting a sense about a mattress after a few minutes in a store, you can draw from all this real world information to see how over time people find the mattress sleeps. Do they think it is too firm or soft? Does it change over time? Does it transmit motion, or sleep hot? Is it really durable over time?

These are the type of questions that are hard to answer in a store, and you don't want to rely on mattress salesman's answers (their answers, even if not swayed by their commissions, may be based on no real experience sleeping on the bed).

What I tell all our customers is that the best way to get unbiased answers to these questions, is through reading our customer reviews. By using the reviews as sort of a database, you can see what most people found as the answer to these questions -- which is why I can tell people that based on people's real experience, the vast majority don't find our mattress to sleep hot, don't feel motion transfers, etc.

From talking with customers, I've found that when they've read over a few of the reviews -- I'd say 5 - 10, but some people tell me they read them all -- people get a minds' eye of whether our 10" Memory Foam Mattress offers the type of feel and support they are looking for.

Since I Know Our Customers Read Our Reviews And Have A Good Sense Of Whether Our 10" Memory Foam Mattress Will Work For Them, I'm Able To Offer Our Unmatched 1 Year money-back Trial.

Because our customers are so familiar with our mattress before buying -- the reviews give them a real minds' eye of whether our 10" Memory Foam Mattress might work for them -- for the most part they end up loving their mattress.

By crowd sourcing I found the most comfortable mattress, and through reading our reviews people are able to figure out if the mattress might work for them. Simple as that, no hype.

We have such high rates of customer satisfaction that we aren't afraid to stand behind our products. And if you don't find them useful or helpful, we don't want you to get stuck with them.

And we really do back that up -- that is how we've earned an A+ rating with the BBB and 5 star, Trusted Store Status, on Shopping.com (now also known as the Ebay Commerce Network) in over 860 reviews.

Having A Strong Return Policy Also Ensures That The Reviews Are On The Up And Up.

I also like that the return policy works hand in hand with our focus on getting real customer reviews.

While you can tell by now how much I like real reviews vs hype, one of the basic problems with reviews is that unfortunately some merchants post fabricated reviews since they know it will increase sales.

So it is fair to ask us -- are all our reviews real?

And while I know they are, and I think people can tell that by reading them and seeing the different tones of the reviews, I like that objectively that we would have no interest in ginning up reviews that give a false idea about our mattress.

Since we really do refund people up to a year after their purchase, if we tricked people into buying, we would only be shooting ourselves in the foot by having to deal with the headache and high cost of dealing with a bunch of returns by folks who weren't happy.

But given the high cost of a return for us, unlike stores that don't offer real money-back returns on their mattresses, we have every incentive to avoid puffing up our mattresses in any false manner.

We want to make sure people have a very good idea of what to expect. And in fact, rather than trying to get folks to buy, my real aim is to discourage people from buying if that mattress isn't a good fit for their needs.

I don't want to sell something to someone if it doesn't make sense -- an unhappy customer costs me a lot, both in money and possible negative reviews, and my main goal in any event is to help the customer find the right mattress for them regardless of whether it is ours or something else.

I got into this business to help folks like I got helped by finding memory foam, and I would rather they found something instead that suits their needs that pushing something on them that isn't a good fit.
