What To Do Immediately

Pancreatic Cancer is most often found in a very late stage and is a very fast moving and deadly disease.

So it is crucial to get the best medical attention as fast as possible.

The large, regional cancer centers are the best places to seek medical help since they see the most cases yearly, and most importantly do the most Whipple surgeries every year -- and so have the most expertise and ability to access whether a Whipple or other surgical resection is possible.

And since a surgical resection offers the most significant hope of survival, it is crucial to seek at least a second opinion at one of these top regional cancer centers (Johns Hopkins, Sloan Kettering, Mayo Clinic, MD Anderson, etc).

And given how fast the cancer progresses, it is important to not waste a single day in getting to one of these centers and being seen by their Pancreatic Cancer specialists.

The Alternative Medicine Definitive Guide to Cancer by W. John Diamond, M.D., and W. Lee Cowden, M. D. 800 333 HEAL.
This is a really good resource for finding information on alternative therapies. I personally disregard the first section dealing with profiles of Doctors using alternative therapies, and concentrate on the other later sections discussing alternative therapies. Lots of contact numbers and good information.

Cancer Therapy: The Independent Consumer's Guide to Non-Toxic Treatment and Prevention by Ralph W. Moss, PhD.
A very dense book detailing scientific support for a multitude of non-toxic alternative cancer treatments. I have found that it is important to research treatments of interest in more detail - the science behind the studies quoted in a few cases I researched left much to be desired and in fact were not good science. So take care.

Third Opinion by John Fink.
This book gives a listing along with basic information on different places which offer alternative therapy. Just because a place is listed in this book does not mean that it is credible. Again, it is important to research any treatment facility before deciding to go for treatment. This should include researching both the treatments offered and the quality of staff, etc. of the facility itself. Sometimes this is not an easy thing to do - make sure you know who you are dealing with before you go for treatment. Some of the places listed here are very credible, others, well, I'm not so sure.

A Cancer Therapy by Max Gerson, M.D.
This book offers a detailed explanation of the Gerson method along with documented results for 50 cases. One of the few physicians to back up the hype with documented evidence.

Options: The Alternative Cancer Therapy Book by Richard Walters.
Offers a good introduction into some of the alternative treatment options available.

Beating Cancer With Nutrition by Patrick Quillin, Noreen Quillin, Paperback - 258 pages Revised edition (May 1998) Nutrition Times Press, Inc.; ISBN: 0963837249. Available at Amazon.com.
This book argues persuasively that nutrition can be a very potent weapon in fighting cancer. Offers his recommendation for diet and supplement for cancer patients.

People against Cancer
I found this nonprofit informational group to be extremely helpful. They offer a variety of resources: an extensive book and tape catalogue where you can find many books on alternative cancer therapy, as well as their alternative cancer program which will research the different options for your type of cancer, and give you a detailed report on these options, and also allows you to have your individual cancer reviewed by experts in different alternative fields and find out what suggestions they may have for your treatment options.
