Memory Foam Mattresses: How to Tell If a Memory Foam Mattress is Right for You

I’m frequently being asked by people if a memory foam mattress is right for them.  I’m also continually finding articles that claim to be able to tell someone if a memory foam mattress will be the right mattress for them.  Best Guide to Locate The Ideal Memory Foam Mattress offers a few tips for choosing a memory foam mattress, but here are three important things you need to look for when shopping for memory foam to make sure a memory foam mattress is indeed right for you.

1.  Buy from a retailer that allows unbiased third parties like Shopping.com and the Better Business Bureau to monitor them.  Retailers will only put positive reviews and comments on their own web sites; third parties will let you see everything consumers have written about a company – the good, the bad, and the ugly.

2.  Buy from a retailer that lets you try your memory foam mattress in your own home for an extended period of time.  We recommend at least 180 days.

3.  Buy from a retailer that will allow you to return your memory foam mattress and get your money back if it doesn’t work for you after your extended in-home trial.  Do not accept a store credit or “comfort” guarantee (same thing as a store credit).  If you do, you could be out a lot of money and still not have a mattress that you are happy with.

Bottom line:  If you follow the three tips above you will be sure to have a pleasant and successful memory foam mattress shopping experience and be able to safely find out if a memory foam mattress works for you.
