Yoga Therapy for Lower Back Pain

In the article Lower back pain?  Yoga therapy can help, the author states nearly 16 million people in the United States currently practice yoga.  Apparently another 9 million say they plan to try it within a year.  (They probably plan to lose weight and stop using their credit cards too…)

The author, who isn’t named on this yoga blog, does cite research from the journal Spine (Sept. 1, 2009) backing his or her claims and goes on to explain the difference between lyengar yoga and classic hatha yoga.  The author also explains how the research was done and what it revealed.

Although I do not personally do yoga (find it to be boring), any properly executed exercise that you enjoy and improves pain is worth a try if you have your health care provider’s okay.

Another thing that many people have found eases their back pain is sleeping on a memory foam mattress.  Although not a cure-all for back pain, memory foam has helped many people improve their back pain and is certainly worth a try.  With the Healthy Foundations’ 365-day money-back guarantee, what do you have to lose?
