Memory Foam Home > Veggie Info > Mushroom Gravy Jane's Wild Mushroom Gravy Makes 3 cups Ingredients 1 oz. dried mixed wild mushrooms 2 c. boiling water 1/2 c. vegetable bullion in water - follow box directions 1 onion - finely chopped 2 garlic cloves - finely chopped 1 t. oregano 4 T. tamari 4 T. white wine 2 t. cold-pressed olive oil 4 T. whole wheat pastry flour salt and pepper to taste Directions 1. Soak mushrooms in boiling water for 30 minutes. 2. In skillet (or wok), fry onion in vegetable bullion until translucent - add water if necessary. 3. Add garlic and oregano and cook 1 more minute. 4. Cut mushrooms into small pieces with scissors. 5. Add mushrooms, soaking water, tamari, wine, salt and pepper to skillet and simmer for 40 minutes. 6. Drain liquid and add water to it to make 2 cups - set aside. 7. In large sauce pan - heat olive oil, and flour, stir continuously for 1 minute with a whisk. 8. Remove from heat, add all other ingredients, whisk briskly, bring to a boil, whisk and cook for 2 more minutes. 9. Serve over rice or mashed potatoes. |
