Memory foam in the freezer?? What on earth does that mean? It means that when you have two boys at home who are 11 and 13, they like to do science experiments and see how things work. Perhaps they didn’t believe me when I told them about the time I accidentally left my memory foam pillow in the car during freezing temperatures and took it out to find it was hard as a brick. Perhaps they were just curious and wanted to see if memory foam is truly temperature sensitive. Perhaps the older brother wanted to use it as a weapon on the younger one. (He did.) The good news is that I intercepted the memory foam pillow weapon and returned it to its rightful place — my younger son’s warm bedroom. Problem solved, but I probably should get some more food in that spare freezer!
Are you thinking about buying a memory foam mattress? Memory foam mattresses are very comfortable and very durable. Maybe you are confused by how much memory foam should be in a memory foam mattress and how much memory foam is needed for a mattress to truly be called a memory foam mattress. Some mattresses have small amounts of memory foam in them. Are these mattresses considered to be memory foam mattresses? How much memory foam is needed before a mattress is indeed a memory foam mattress?
How did I get introduced to memory foam? It was through a memory foam pillow. I was very active and having neck pain of an unknown origin. From the urging of a friend, I decided to give a memory foam pillow a try. Great decision! My neck pain left and never came back. I love my memory foam pillow so much that I take it with me when I travel.
Here’s a recent press release from the American Chiropractic Association that has some really good information on what to look when shopping for mattresses and pillows:
“A good night’s sleep is an essential part of a healthy lifestyle; however, an estimated 70 million Americans complain of sleeplessness. This October, during National Chiropractic Month, the American Chiropractic Association (ACA) is offering advice to help consumers select comfortable mattresses and pillows that can help limit unnecessary back and neck pain.
