A Memory Foam Pillow – My Introduction to Memory Foam Mattresses

How did I get introduced to memory foam?  It was through a memory foam pillow.  I was very active and having neck pain of an unknown origin.  From the urging of a friend, I decided to give a memory foam pillow a try.  Great decision!  My neck pain left and never came back.  I love my memory foam pillow so much that I take it with me when I travel.

Memory Foam Mattresses: What On Earth Is A Comfort Guarantee?

Looking for a memory foam mattress and confused by all the different guarantees?  Don’t worry, you’re not alone.  Many mattress retailers want you to be confused about their guarantees.  Let’s clear a few thing up…

Stay clear from store credits or “comfort” guarantees.  A “comfort” guarantee is just a tricky way of saying you are getting a store credit.  If you try your mattress at home and it doesn’t work for you, you can bring it back, but you do not get your money back.  You have to choose a different mattress from that same store.  Since most mattress retailers probably only have one or two mattresses that you may be interested in, you could be out of luck — no mattress that you like and out hundreds of dollars or more.

Memory Foam Mattress: Can Memory Foam Help Football Players the Way It’s Helped Aching Backs?

I recently posted a blog about some of the silly uses I have seen for memory foam.  I listed places where I loved memory foam too, including memory foam mattresses, memory foam pillows, and memory foam topper pads.  I then had my wish list – places where I’d like to see memory foam used  – car seats, baby car seats, and sleeping bags.  Now, I’m happy to see another great use for memory foam that I hope becomes very successful – inside football helmets.

Memory Foam: Unnecessary in a Bra… Great for a Mattress

I saw the blog The Lisca Smart Memory Bra and had to chuckle, as did its author “Marta.”  I’m not sure whether memory foam, which is temperature sensitive and conforms to your body’s contours when you are sleeping on it, needs to be in a bra.  (The woman I saw in the bra ad photo didn’t appear to need any type of help from a bra!)

Memory Foam Mattress – How Memory Foam Can Help You Sleep More Comfortably

A memory foam mattress can help you sleep better, but how?  A memory foam mattress is temperature sensitive.  This means that it uses your body’s temperature to adjust to the contours of your body.  Pressure points are eliminated and the need to toss and turn to find a comfortable sleeping position is eliminated.  Once you do move, the memory foam “remembers” its shape and returns to its original position.  It then gently shapes to your body’s contours in your new sleeping position.

A Few Memory Foam Mattress Terms You Should Know

Shopping for a memory foam mattress can be tough sometimes.  There are a lot of unfamiliar terms that can sometimes seem confusing.  Here are a few terms that can help you during your memory foam mattress search:

Mattress Core – This is the basic core of the mattress.  In the case of a memory foam mattress, it is the core foam that the memory foam is layered on plus the cover or ticking.  The cover or ticking is the outside of the mattress.  On a memory foam mattress, it is a zippered cover rather than a sewn ticking.

Memory Foam Mattresses: How to Find the Perfect One

We spend about one-third of our lives in bed yet some people only spend ten minutes in a store lying down on a mattress before they decide to spend a third of their life sleeping on it!  In fact, in the article Find the Perfect Bed Mattress, the author actually recommends to “lie down together with your partner for at least 10 minutes, in positions that you normally sleep in.”  The last time I checked, most people sleep more than 10 minutes at a time and they certainly don’t sleep in a warm noisy store with all the lights on!

Memory Foam Mattress Myths Debunked

I found what should have been an interesting blog entitled Memory Foam Mattresses:  Main Complains [sic].  The problem with this blog is that every memory foam complaint in it is eliminated with the purchase of the right memory foam mattress.  Read on…

Some people think that a memory foam mattress sleeps too hot.  This has been an issue with “leading brand” memory foam mattresses, but our very low return rate has shown that the Healthy Foundations Memory Foam Mattress doesn’t sleep hot.

Memory Foam Mattress: How Long Does a Good Memory Foam Mattress Last?

I came across a blog asking, How long does a memory foam mattress last? and I do think it is important to spell that out for people.  A traditional bed with springs will typically last for only about ten years before it needs to be replaced.  A good memory foam mattress should come with at least a 10 year warranty and last at least that long.
