The Importance of a Money-Back Trial When Buying a Memory Foam Mattress

Every day I talk to people about mattresses — memory foam mattress, inner spring mattresses, latex mattresses… One of the things I hear most often is how upset people are when they have spent good money to buy a mattress, only to find out it is not right for them and it can’t be returned.  It felt good in the store perhaps, but after many nights of hours at a time, the same mattress that felt great for 15 minutes just doesn’t work for many people.  This is why a true money-back trial is so important when buying any type of mattress.

Using Your Memory Foam Mattress with an Adjustable Base

Many people are choosing an adjustable base bed for the comfort and range of sleeping positions it can provide. Gone are the days of only seeing adjustable beds in hospitals and nursing homes. Adjustable bases are mainstream, look great with any decor, and can come with just about every upgrade you can imagine.  These are not your grandfather’s adjustable beds.

Memory Foam Mattresses: Just Say, “No!” to Mold

More often than I would like, I hear from sad people with some other brand of memory foam mattress who look underneath their mattress and discovered that it is covered in mold! This is an unfortunate event that can be prevented. Memory foam mattresses need air to circulate so that they can breath. If memory foam is not allowed to breath properly, mold can be the unfortunate result.

Memory Foam and Electric Blankets

From time to time, we get questions about the use of electric blankets and electric mattresses pads with our memory foam.

If someone would like to use an electric mattress pad with their memory foam mattress, we suggest just to turn it on for a while to warm up the bed, then turn it off. We do not recommend leaving it on all the time as it is unclear whether long term use of an electric mattress pad will harm the memory foam or not.

Memory Foam in the Freezer – Boys Will Be Boys

Memory foam in the freezer?? What on earth does that mean? It means that when you have two boys at home who are 11 and 13, they like to do science experiments and see how things work. Perhaps they didn’t believe me when I told them about the time I accidentally left my memory foam pillow in the car during freezing temperatures and took it out to find it was hard as a brick.  Perhaps they were just curious and wanted to see if memory foam is truly temperature sensitive.  Perhaps the older brother wanted to use it as a weapon on the younger one.  (He did.)  The good news is that I intercepted the memory foam pillow weapon and returned it to its rightful place — my younger son’s warm bedroom.  Problem solved, but I probably should get some more food in that spare freezer!

The Top Two Most Comfortable Mattresses: Memory Foam and Natural Latex

Would you like to know what type of mattresses are rated the most comfortable? According to the top-rated sleep review site, SleepLiketheDead, it’s the memory foam mattress followed closely by the natural latex mattress.  This research is based on actual customer satisfaction data.

Although both are extremely comfortable, they are different.  A memory foam mattress conforms to your body’s shape, cradling your body and reducing pressure points.  A latex mattress has a firmer, more bouncier feel than a memory foam mattress.  It does not change its shape or conform to your body’s contours.

Why a Quality Memory Foam Topper is Worth the Price

I speak to many people who are looking for a memory foam topper, but want to pay a very low price. With memory foam toppers, durability and longevity is a huge factor in the price you will pay.  When I talk about price, I’m not talking about overpriced (which is the case when the price you pay is due to millions in advertising like the leading memory foam brand).  I’m talking about price that is based on the comfort, quality, and durability of the memory foam topper.

Why You Need to Read Mattress Warranty Details

I recently spoke with a man who was looking into the Healthy Foundations 10″ Memory Foam Mattress, as well as the memory foam mattress of another mattress company.  There were differences in the way they were made, pricing, company longevity, and the usual things that separates Healthy Foundations from other companies, but the biggest “gotcha” from this company is their warranty.  Buyer beware, as I always say.
