Comparison of Healthy Foundations Memory Foam Mattress and Toppers to Tempur-Pedic ®We often get people asking us to compare our The Healthy Foundations 10" Memory Foam Mattress or our Healthy Foundations Topper pads to Tempur-Pedic ®. Especially since our Healthy Foundations Memory Foam Mattress is about 1/2 the price of the middle of the Tempur-Pedic mattress line*, and they can save even more by keeping their current mattress and can get the comfort they are looking for by just adding one of our memory foam topper pads to their bed. People want to know how our products stack up to the "leading brand" in the memory foam business, the Tempur-Pedic ®, and whether they will come out ahead by saving money on our products or behind since they might save some money but sacrifice getting the comfort they are looking for.
And the first thing we tell people is that these are tough questions to answer - because comfort is such a subjective thing and also since we don't know the condition of their current mattress. But we will do our best on this page to give you our take on this. To do so, we've broken this page into two sections - 1) For those of you who need a new mattress, our comparison of our Healthy Foundations Memory Foam Mattress to the Tempur-Pedic ®, and 2) For those whose mattress is ok but just overly firm, whether adding our Memory Foam Topper Pad will give you the comfort you are looking for.
How To Tell If You Need A New Mattress?
In general, we tell people that if your current mattress is still pretty firm and supportive, with no apparent dips or compressed areas, and all you just feel that your mattress is overly firm, then our Topper Pads may do the job for you. Our Memory Foam Topper Pads do a good job of making an overly firm mattress much more comfortable.
But if your mattress isn't in good shape or getting on in years (over 7 - 10 years old), you may instead be better served by spending your money toward a new mattress rather than a topper.
Also, many mattress manufacturers put in fairly inexpensive foams and other comfort layers that compress and break down in just a few years. If your current mattress has any compressed areas or dips, a topper pad will just make these areas even more apparent. In this case, you probably come out ahead spending your money toward a new mattress rather than trying to fix your current one with a topper pad.
The question people want to know is how the comfort of our Healthy Foundations Memory Foam Mattresses stacks up to that of the Tempur-Pedic ® mattress. Especially since our Healthy Foundations Memory Foam Mattresses are about 1/2 the price or so of the comparable mattresses of the Tempur-Pedic ® mattress line*. And our answer is .... we think our Healthy Foundations 10" Memory Foam Mattress can hold its own, in terms of comfort, with any memory foam mattress out there - including the Tempur-Pedic ®.
Why do we feel this way? When we were trying to choose a memory foam mattress to carry, I decided to do a test of 6 different mattresses with 300 testers. And after 6 months, we tallied all the reviews, and one mattress stood head and shoulders above the rest. And not only did it clearly out perform the other mattresses in our test, but the reviews were 96% as high as that garnered by Tempur-Pedic® in its survey -- but at about 1/2 the price.
Here's what our testers had to say about our Memory Foam Mattress
We believe in the Healthy Foundations Memory Foam Mattresses so much that we are offering an unmatched 365-day money-back trial on the mattress. And the Healthy Foundations Memory Foam Mattress does come with a 10-yearmanufacturer's warranty.

Mattress Ok, but Too Firm? A Topper is a Less Expensive Option that Works Well
If your mattress is basically ok, but just overly firm, then that is when one of our toppers can really make it much more comfortable. How does this compare to a Tempur-Pedic ® alternative?
Since a higher density foam does utilize a bit more raw material, this accounts for a small part of the price difference between Tempur-Pedic ® and Healthy Foundations' topper pads. As for the rest of the price difference, the issue is whether you really get a better quality foam and sleep on Tempur-Pedic than on our mattress toppers? Is there such a difference in quality of these foams that the Tempur-Pedic ® is worth 4 times the price?
This is a very subjective question to answer, and I can't say whether any particular person would like the Tempur-Pedic ® foam that much more than the Healthy Foundations topper pad. I can say that we get less than a 6% return rate and lots of positive testimonials from our customers on our pads reducing pressure points and improving their sleep. For most people, our topper pad seems to be the sweet spot for these toppers - a high enough density so that you get the benefits of memory foam while still affordable.
So what's the bottom line? I know people who love both types of this memory foam. They both seem to do the job in terms of reducing pressure, alleviating common back or joint pain, and allowing for a more comfortable, and deeper sleep. Since the price difference is so great, many of my customers who are simply looking for greater sleep comfort try the Healthy Foundations topper pad and find that does the trick. Other customers whose mattresses are worn out, who are bedridden (and so can benefit from a higher density memory foam), or who just enjoy the feel of the memory foam made by the Tempur-Pedic ® may instead choose to go with the Tempur-Pedic ®.
* Price Comparison is of Healthy Foundation 10" Memory Foam Mattress to the Tempur-Cloud® Supreme
This comparison is strictly a value comparison. That is, I looked at the 11 different models in the Tempur-Pedic ® line, and the Tempur-Cloud® Supreme is the one with the specs that are almost identical to our mattress.
They both have similar amounts of "core" foam (6quot; for our 10" Memory Foam Mattress ), 7" for the Tempur-Cloud® Supreme), and then 4" of memory foam on top with similar densities (a 2" layer of 5 lb density memory foam topped with a 2" layer of 4 lb density memory foam).
In terms of overall feel, I have no idea if these two mattresses would offer a similar level of firmness and cushion simply because I've never tested the Tempur-Cloud® Supreme over months of use as I did our 10" Memory Foam Mattress . And I suspect they may well be different in that Tempur-Pedic ® rates the Tempur-Cloud® Supreme as a soft mattress, where as our 10" Memory Foam Mattress gets pretty consistent ratings in our reviews as a firm mattress.
The bottom line is that due to the different feels of the memory foam used in our 10" Memory Foam Mattress and those used by Tempur-Pedic®, I don't believe that any of their line offers a similar feel to our mattress. It is really a matter of apples and oranges, and while both can be good, neither necessarily can be used as a comparison for the other.
